MTB Course in Hyvinkää – Sveitsi Rent Lessons & Guided Rides
Beginner MTB courses and guided e-fatbike rides at Sveitsi, Hyvinkää
About
Based at the edge of the Sveitsi recreation area, Sveitsi Rent makes an MTB course in Hyvinkää easy to arrange: gather a group, book a date and you can ride straight from the base into the surrounding ridge forest. It is a relaxed option for beginners who would like proper instruction before heading out alone, with bikes available to hire on site.
Sveitsi Rent is an outdoor equipment rental and activity business operating at the Hotel Sveitsi site, open every day of the year. Its mountain bike course is led by Minna Puusniekka, a qualified mountain bike instructor (maastopyöräilynohjaaja). The team also runs guided rides on electric fatbikes for groups, keeping the pace sociable and passing on cycling tips along the way.
What they offer
- Beginner mountain bike course covering riding position and bike control, finished with a short trail loop
- Up to eight participants per course, with private courses for your own group
- Discounted mountain bike hire for course participants
- Guided electric fatbike rides through the forest for groups
- Year-round rental of bikes and other outdoor gear
The course is designed for people who are new to the sport. You start on easy ground near the base, learning how to stand on the pedals, look ahead, brake smoothly and keep the bike steady over small obstacles. Once everyone feels comfortable, the instructor leads the group out on a short loop through the forest so you can try the new skills on real terrain. Because the group is limited to eight, there is time for individual pointers, and friends, families or work teams can book a course of their own.
The guided e-fatbike rides suit mixed groups where fitness levels vary, as the electric assistance evens things out and the wide tyres feel stable on soft or snowy ground.
The riding around Hyvinkää
- Sveitsi recreation area – wooded ridges, lakeside paths and a ski-centre hut right next to the base.
- Hyvinkää mountain bike routes – the town publishes a cycling map with marked off-road loops around the area.
- Kytäjä–Usmi outdoor area – a larger forest and lake district west of town with its own trail map.
When to ride
Sveitsi Rent is open all year. Mountain bike courses suit the snow-free months from late spring to autumn, when forest paths are dry and firm, while winter brings the option of a guided fatbike ride on the winter trail with a stop at a warming hut. Course dates are agreed with your group rather than run on a fixed timetable.
Getting to Hyvinkää
Hyvinkää is about 50 km north of Helsinki. From Helsinki-Vantaa Airport it is about a 35–40 minute drive along the main Tampere road, and commuter and long-distance trains from Helsinki stop at Hyvinkää station, a short ride from the Sveitsi area. There is parking near the Sveitsi swimming hall where the base is located.
Tips for your ride
- Bring your own mountain bike, helmet, water bottle and snacks, or hire a bike from Sveitsi Rent at the participant rate.
- Book well ahead and confirm numbers – the course is capped at eight riders.
- Wear layers; forest shade keeps temperatures low even in summer.
- Ask about the town’s MTB map so you can keep practising on marked loops after your course.
