Sugarloaf Bike Park – Lift-Access MTB in Atholville, New Brunswick
Atlantic Canada's first lift-access bike park – 14 downhill trails and 40+ km of XC
About
Sugarloaf Bike Park in Atholville, New Brunswick, calls itself Atlantic Canada’s first lift-access mountain bike park. Set in Sugarloaf Provincial Park in the north of the province, right next to Campbellton, it combines chairlift-served downhill trails with a big cross-country network – and big views over the Restigouche valley.
The trails were designed and built by Gravity Logic, the Whistler-based team behind many of the world’s best bike parks, and the park has hosted a stop of the Crankworx Summer Series.
Downhill trails at Sugarloaf Bike Park
The chairlift gives access to 14 downhill trails, from about 0.6 to 2.3 km long, with around 226 m of vertical. There’s something for every level:
- Beginners and families: a 1.5 km Family Zone trail and easy green runs such as Sugar Mama (2 km).
- Jump lines: Sugar Daddy, a 2 km jump trail, and Supa Sweet, the park’s biggest jump trail.
- Steep and technical: Ti-Polo, Kodiak and L’Acadienne – the park’s only double-black-diamond trail.
In total the park rates 9 trails easy, 15 intermediate, 10 difficult and 2 extremely difficult.
Cross-country, skills park and pump track
Beyond the lift, more than 40 km of cross-country trails wind through the provincial park, including the 4.8 km Panorama trail. The cross-country network is open year-round from early morning until dusk. At the bottom of the hill, a skills park and pump track are perfect for warming up or for younger riders.
Rentals and e-bikes
The rental shop has downhill bikes, trail bikes and e-bikes, including youth downhill and youth trail bikes. E-bikes are allowed on the trails.
Season and prices
The 2026 lift season ran from 30 May to 27 September, with the chairlift open at weekends early and late in the season and from Thursday to Sunday in mid-summer. A full-day adult lift ticket cost CA$47.52 in 2026, with half-day tickets, single-ride tickets, discounted youth, student and senior tickets, and a season pass. Tickets bought online are a little cheaper.
Tips for your first visit
- Start with the Family Zone or a green trail to get used to the lift and the speed of the berms.
- Check the chairlift days before you travel – outside mid-summer the lift only runs at weekends.
- Wear downhill protection: a full-face helmet, gloves and knee pads are a good idea on the lift-served trails.
- Use the pump track and skills park to warm up before your first run.
- Combine lift laps with cross-country – the XC trails stay open even when the chairlift is closed.
