About

Rocky Mountain Adaptive is a Canmore-based organization that helps people with physical, cognitive or developmental disabilities get outdoors. Its summer programs make it the go-to option for Adaptive Mountain Bike Lessons in Canmore and the Bow Valley.

Private lessons

Three-hour private mountain bike lessons run at the Canmore Nordic Centre, or on other Bow Valley trails on request, for riders aged 8 and up. For riders who use a hand cycle, there are one-on-one lessons on Bowhead electric and e-assist adaptive bikes, in 3-hour or 6-hour sessions, for ages 12 and up.

Camps and group programs

An adaptive mountain bike camp for adults runs over several days at William Watson Lodge in Peter Lougheed Provincial Park, with daily lessons and other guided activities. The price includes activities and lodging. A six-week evening leisure bike program runs on Tuesdays in summer.

Adaptive rentals

Rocky Mountain Adaptive also rents adaptive bikes, so visitors can explore local trails after a lesson.

Good to know

Summer lessons run from June 15 to September 30, seven days a week, in morning and afternoon slots. Registration for the summer opens in spring. You will need a park pass for some locations. Book through the website, email [email protected] or call 403-431-1354.
