Best rides from Livigno

  • Mottolino Bike Park – the area’s gravity hub, reached by the Mottolino lift. It has the beginner line Take It Easy (about 4.5 km), jump lines of several levels, a wooded North Shore area, and a drop and slopestyle zone for experts. A full-face helmet and pads are recommended.
  • Carosello 3000 Mountain Park – the Carosello gondolas lift you and your bike to around 3,000 m, opening up about 50 km of flow, enduro, natural and family trails on the other side of the valley.
  • Val Alpisella – an intermediate tour of about 20 km and 900 m of climbing into the valley where the Adda river rises, starting near Ristoro Val Alpisella.
  • Val Federia – an easy 12 km ride with about 400 m of climbing up a quiet side valley, a good first-day leg-loosener at altitude.
  • Livigno cycle path – about 10 km of easy riding along the valley floor, with an extension to the lake.

Getting to Livigno

Livigno is remote, and that is part of its charm. Innsbruck (about 180 km), Bergamo (about 196 km) and Zurich (about 218 km) are the most practical airports, each around three to three and a half hours by car on mountain roads. The Munt La Schera tunnel from Switzerland is a tolled one-lane route, open all year, with alternating traffic.

There is no railway in the valley. Take the train to Tirano, then a bus via Bormio, or the Rhaetian Railway to Zernez in Switzerland and a bus from there.

When to ride

At around 1,800 m, Livigno is a summer destination. In 2026 Mottolino ran from 13 June to 27 September and Carosello 3000 from 20 June to 13 September. July and August bring the most reliable weather, though mornings are cool and afternoon storms are common. A bike hotel in Livigno lets you combine lift days and high tours without moving your car.
