About

Looking for mountain bike rental near Copenhagen? MTB Tours in Hareskoven is a year-round mountain bike centre just outside the city, with bikes to rent, guided rides, technique courses, a workshop and a café, all a few pedal strokes from the forest trails.

The team has been running the centre for more than 14 years and welcomes around 20,000 visitors a year, from first-timers and families to company groups and regular local riders. The 22 km trail network in Hareskoven starts right outside the door, and the centre is only about 20 minutes from Copenhagen city centre.

What they offer

  • MTB rental – hardtails, full-suspension bikes, e-MTBs and kids’ bikes, all year round.
  • Guided rides – a two-hour tour with a local guide, planned around your group’s level, with bikes, helmets and bottles included.
  • MTB courses – regular technique courses for all levels, plus private lessons when it suits you.
  • Company events and groups – team days, stag and hen parties and other group outings.
  • Workshop and shop – repairs by mountain bike mechanics, new and used bikes and riding clothing.
  • Café After Trail – coffee, cold drinks, ice cream and toasties beside the forest.

The riding in Hareskoven

Hareskoven is one of the most popular mountain bike forests in the Copenhagen area. The marked trails are graded blue, so they suit beginners and families, while the roots, short climbs and twisty sections still keep more experienced riders busy. There is also a bike wash at the centre for when the forest gets muddy.

When to ride

The centre is open all year. Spring and autumn are lovely in the beech forest, summer brings long light evenings, and winter riding is possible on most days with the right clothing. Check the opening hours on the website before you go, as they change through the week.

Getting to Hareskoven

The easiest way from Copenhagen is the S-train: Hareskov station is about 250 metres from the centre, so you can arrive without a car. By car it takes roughly 20–30 minutes from the city centre, and Copenhagen Airport is about 40 minutes away.

Tips for your ride

  • Book bikes and guided tours in advance, especially at weekends and in the school holidays.
  • An e-MTB is a good choice if you want to cover more of the trails in a short visit.
  • Bring a layer and waterproof jacket – Danish weather changes quickly, even in summer.
  • Leave time for a coffee at the café after your ride.
