Krank Cycles is a bike shop in upcountry Makawao, close to the Makawao Forest Reserve trails. It is a go-to spot for Mountain Bike Rentals on Maui and says it has the largest fleet of road and mountain rental bikes on the island.
The fleet
Mountain bike rentals include full-suspension trail bikes and downhill bikes, in sizes from XS to XL. Electric mountain bikes such as the Specialized Turbo Levo are also available. The shop also rents road bikes, beach cruisers and kids’ bikes.
What is included
Each rental comes with a helmet, flat pedals, a repair kit and maps with route directions. Protective armor, clipless pedals and backpacks are offered first come, first served. Car racks can be rented for $15 a day for a trunk rack or $39 a day for an SUV hitch rack.
Shops around the island
Makawao is the mountain shop. Krank also has locations at the airport and in West Maui, and offers bike delivery. The Makawao store has a full repair shop and a fit studio.
