About

Flowride is a popular MTB school in Brno that has been helping riders find their flow since early 2019. The name says it all: the team wants you to reach that state of joy and control on a descent, riding close to your limit but feeling relaxed. Around fifteen people now teach courses, run camps and produce riding video and photography.

According to its website, Flowride’s team is made up of experienced riders and professional coaches holding ITC licences – the Czech, ministry-accredited qualification for off-road cycling instructors. Founder Jan Filip is listed by the Bike licence programme as an ITC instructor, and the school runs dedicated courses for children as well as adult technique and freestyle sessions.

The school suits a wide range of riders. Complete beginners can learn the basics in a relaxed group, confident trail riders can work on cornering, jumps and steeper terrain, and families can sign children up for age-appropriate camps and weekly clubs. Coaching is built around clear progression, so you know which level to book next once you have mastered the current one, and there are also corporate sessions for teams who want a day out on the bike together.

What this MTB school in Brno offers

  • Three-hour individual or small-group lessons tailored to your level
  • One-day and two-day camps in local trail centres and bike parks
  • Kids’ courses from age five, including a riding nursery, enduro, jump and bike park camps
  • Weekly kids’ clubs in Brno in spring and autumn, plus a summer day camp
  • Freestyle Academy, off-bike training for riders and trips abroad to places such as Davos and Schladming

The riding around Brno

  • Singletrail Moravský kras – purpose-built singletrack near Jedovnice in the Moravian Karst
  • Bike Arena Netro – a pump track and skills area within Brno itself
  • Bikepark Kopřivná and Trail park Kraličák – lift-served parks used for bike park and enduro camps

South Moravia is not a high-mountain region, but it has a surprising amount of purpose-built riding. Natural trails in the karst, compact skills parks in the city and lift-served bike parks within a couple of hours mean that Flowride can match the venue to the skill you are working on, whether that is pumping, jumping or braking on steep ground.

When to ride

The main season runs from spring to autumn. Kids’ clubs meet in a spring block and an autumn block, camps are concentrated in the summer months, and the school often announces extra dates in November. Check the booking calendar for current availability.

Spring sessions are a good way to rebuild skills after winter, while the summer months bring multi-day camps and trips abroad. Autumn clubs keep children riding as the evenings draw in, and the team adjusts session times so that riders finish before dark.

Getting to Brno

Brno-Tuřany airport has limited flights, so most visitors use Vienna airport, about one and a half hours away by car, or Prague, about two hours along the D1 motorway. Brno also has good rail links with Vienna, Prague and Bratislava.

Tips for your ride

  • Choose your course by level – the website groups camps from beginner to advanced.
  • Bring a full-face helmet and pads for bike park and jump camps.
  • Ask about bike hire in advance, as rental is not listed on the site.
  • Gift vouchers are available if you are booking for someone else.
