New sporty hotel in the Stubai Valley with bike area and wash bay
About
Looking for a bike hotel in Neustift? Explorer Hotel Stubaital is set up for mountain bikers, with secure bike storage, a bike wash, a workshop with tools and laundry for riding kit.
Explorer Hotel Stubaital opened in November 2024 in Neustift, the main village of the Stubai Valley, about half an hour south of Innsbruck. It’s a modern, good-value sports hotel aimed squarely at active guests, and there’s even a cheaper rate if you arrive by train or bike.
Its Bike and Ski Area includes bike storage, lockable sports lockers, a washing area and a workbench for tweaks and repairs, and there’s a washing machine for muddy kit. Route ideas and tour tips are shared on the website, the app and the in-house Explorer Wall.
The Stubai Valley has around 720 km of mapped mountain bike routes, from long valley loops such as the Pinnistal circuit to big alpine climbs, and the Schlick 2000 Bike Park is close by for lift-served laps. Innsbruck’s Nordkette and the Mutters/Götzens trails are an easy drive away, and local certified guides can show you the best trails across the region.

Best rides from Neustift
- EinsEinser Trail – the harder of the Elfer’s two descents: over 4 km from the top station on mostly natural terrain, with drops, northshore and a wall ride. The Elferbahn carries bikes and its valley station is in Neustift.
- ZweiZweier Trail – about 3.5 km of smoother, easier riding with berms and small jumps, partly under the gondola, before it joins the EinsEinser.
- Issenanger Alm loop – a 16.5 km pedal-powered tour with about 860 m of climbing to the Issenangeralm and views over the valley from the Elfer flanks.
- Brandstatt-Alm loop – a 22.8 km, 880 m climbing loop from the village for fit riders who like to earn their descents.
- Bikepark Innsbruck – a short drive towards Innsbruck, the Muttereralm gondola takes bikes up to a dedicated bike park.
Getting to Neustift
Innsbruck airport is the obvious choice, roughly half an hour’s drive away; Munich airport is around two and a half hours by road. Drivers leave the A13 Brenner motorway (a toll road) at Schönberg and follow the Stubaitalstraße up the valley.
By public transport, take the train to Innsbruck main station, then the Regiobus 590, which runs up the valley to Fulpmes and Neustift. Overnight guests in the Stubai can request a voucher for one free journey each way on the bus or the Stubai Valley tram.
When to ride
The Elferbahn runs in summer from mid-May to early November (2026: 16 May to 2 November). Staying at a bike hotel in Neustift from June to September gives you the best trail conditions, with warm valley days and cooler air higher up; spring and late autumn can be crisp and the higher alpine tours may still hold snow early on.
