Bikepark Todtnau – Downhill Bike Park in the Black Forest, Germany
Black Forest downhill classic since 1996 – 450 m of vertical, host of the 2026 German DH Championships
About
Bikepark Todtnau in the southern Black Forest is one of Germany’s classic downhill parks. Founded in 1996, it celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2026 – and that year it also hosts the German Downhill Championships (11–13 September 2026), as part of the Hot-Trail Series.
The park is all about proper gravity riding: long, steep, rooty Black Forest descents with around 450 metres of vertical on every run, served by a lift from the base in Todtnau.
Trails at Bikepark Todtnau
- Downhill (black) – the race track: about 2.7 km and 450 m of descent, steep, rooty and technical.
- Wildride (red) – about 2.6 km of natural, wilder riding over the same vertical.
- Downhill Flow (red) – about 2.6 km with a flowing character, the best place to start for riders new to the park.
- North Shore – a wooden training line for experienced riders only, closed in the wet.
Many obstacles have easier “chicken lines” around them, but every trail expects good riding skills – the park recommends inspecting the trails before riding them.
Protection rules
Bikepark Todtnau has strict safety rules: a full-face helmet, back protector and knee pads are compulsory everywhere in the park – without them you won’t be allowed on the lift. Gloves, goggles and elbow, chest and hip protection are recommended. Riders under 16 need a signed consent form from a parent.
Rental and shop
The bike park shop and rental is run by 2-Cycle, the Freiburg bike shop, with downhill bikes and protective gear for hire. The shop and rental are open at weekends and on public holidays.
Opening times and prices
In 2026 the bike park is open daily from 10:00 to 16:30 during the season (check the live trail status before you travel). A day ticket costs €34.50 and a single ride €9, with transferable 5, 10, 20 and 50-ride cards valid for two years. A €3 card deposit and a €5 daily trail fee – used to maintain the trails – are added at the lift desk.
Tips for your first day at Bikepark Todtnau
- Bring all the compulsory protection – full-face helmet, back protector and knee pads – or rent it at the shop.
- Start on Downhill Flow before trying the Wildride or the black downhill track.
- Walk the trails first: it’s a park rule, and on the black line it’s the best way to find your lines.
- Share a 50-ride card with friends – it’s the park’s own money-saving tip.
- Park only in car park 2 on Brandenbergstraße; overnight parking isn’t allowed.
