Mt Hutt Bike Park – Bike Methven Club Trails near Methven, NZ
40+ km of club-built trails from easy XC to steep downhill, with shuttle days in summer
About
Mt Hutt Bike Park is the home of Bike Methven, a volunteer-run club for cross-country, enduro and downhill riders in Mid Canterbury, New Zealand. The club bought the land with the help of the riding community in 2017, and its volunteers have been building and looking after the trails ever since. The park sits off the Mt Hutt ski field road, about 30 minutes from Methven.
There are more than 40 trails and over 40 km of singletrack, from a family-friendly cross-country loop to fast, technical downhill tracks for advanced riders, and many trails can be ridden through the winter too. The park hosts club shuttle days, the Mt Hutt Enduro, downhill races and the South Island Secondary Schools MTB Championships.
There is no chairlift: you pedal up, or book one of the club’s shuttle days, which run from spring to autumn (October to March). Club membership supports trail building and maintenance – join through the Bike Methven website.
