Floatplane-accessed guided and self-guided singletrack in the South Chilcotins

Canada, North America

About

Tyax Adventures runs Floatplane Mountain Biking in the South Chilcotins from a base on Tyaughton Lake near Gold Bridge, BC. Riders and bikes fly to remote alpine lakes, then ride singletrack back toward the valley. The company has run these trips for more than 20 years.

Guided day tours

Day options range from a half-day valley tour to a full-day fly and bike tour. A popular route drops riders by floatplane at Spruce Lake for a long descent back to the lodge area. Each tour comes with a mountain bike guide, and most include a packed lunch and a shuttle back to base if needed.

Multi-day and self-guided trips

Tyax also offers multi-day guided trips, ladies-only camps and independent trips for riders who want to go without a guide. The Ultimate Singletrack Adventure adds a return flight to Whistler. The South Chilcotin network has more than 200 km of trails, with most rated intermediate or difficult.

Good to know

The trips run in summer, and flying tours let you choose your own dates. Some tours need a minimum of two or three riders. Prices are per person and taxes and booking fees are extra. Book online through the Tyax Adventures website, or call the office to plan a custom trip. Bring a well-maintained trail bike or ask about rentals when you book.
