About

Wheaton Gravity Mountain Bike Park sits in the woods of Wheaton Regional Park in Montgomery County, Maryland. Wheaton Gravity Mountain Bike Park opened in July 2024 and is run by Montgomery Parks.

Two gravity courses

The park has two downhill courses that need little or no pedaling. Together they are nearly a mile long. The green course has dirt berms, tabletops and rollers. The blue course starts from a platform and adds jump sections and wooden berm turns. A return line takes riders back uphill to the start, so you can do lap after lap.

Who it suits

The park is built for moderately experienced mountain bikers and BMX riders. It uses a progression layout, so you can warm up on green and move to blue as your skills grow. Montgomery Parks suggests starting on green first.

Getting there

Park in the upper lot off Shorefield Road. From the lot, follow the paved path past the playground and restrooms to the entrance. The park is close to the Adventure Playground.

Good to know

The park is open from dawn until dusk. You ride at your own risk. Helmets are strongly encouraged and required for riders 18 and under. Avoid the trails when they are wet or muddy, and check the Montgomery Parks RainoutLine for open or closed status before you go.
