United States, North America

About

Far Flung Adventures is a long-standing outfitter based in El Prado, just north of Taos. Alongside river trips, it runs Guided Mountain Bike Tours in Taos and the wider northern New Mexico high country.

Day rides

The Rim Trail day ride is an easy to moderate outing above the Rio Grande Gorge and starts at $115. The South Boundary Trail ride is aimed at intermediate riders and above, also from $115. It is one of the best known backcountry rides in the state. The Tusa Mountain full-day ride is easy to moderate and starts at $150.

Multi-day trips

For a bigger adventure, the Chama Charmer is a van-supported multi-day trip rated moderate to adventurous, from $350. Routes on multi-day trips can include sections of the Continental Divide Trail.

Bikes

Full-suspension bikes, hardtails and e-bikes are available to rent. The company also offers self-guided day rentals and outfitting for multi-day trips.

Good to know

The bike season runs from May to October. Book online through the company’s booking system, or call or email the office in El Prado. The South Boundary Trail is long and high, so it is best suited to fit riders who are comfortable on rough, rocky descents.
