BOC Ponca Downhill – Shuttle-Served Gravity Trails near the Buffalo River, Arkansas
Shuttle-served gravity trails with up to 1,300 ft of descent in the Ozarks
About
The Buffalo Outdoor Center in Ponca runs a gravity trail network next to the Buffalo National River. BOC Ponca Downhill has some of the longest descents in Arkansas, dropping up to about 1,300 vertical feet.
The trails
The network has around 11 miles of trail. Upper and Lower Buffalo River Run are blue trails that together run nearly six miles. Black downhill-only trails include Mule Kicker, Lower Miner’s Downhill, White Lightning and Skull Cracker, plus a double-black alt line. Connector trails bring you back to the center with some climbing. This is terrain for intermediate and advanced riders. The trails are free and open to the public.
Shuttle and rentals
A shuttle runs riders to the top from the center. A full-day shuttle pass is $40 and a half-day pass is $20. You can rent a Devinci Spartan with a full-face helmet for $80 a day. The shuttle is not included in the rental price.
Good to know
The store is open 8am to 6pm from March to October, and 8am to 5pm from November to February. Call ahead to reserve a rental bike. The center also has cabins and river trips, so it works well as a base for a weekend.
