Purgatory Bike Park – Lift-Served Downhill near Durango, Colorado
Lift-served downhill park north of Durango, reopened for summer 2026
About
Purgatory Bike Park is at Purgatory Resort, about 25 miles north of Durango in southwest Colorado. Purgatory Bike Park reopened for the summer 2026 season after a year off while the resort built a new chairlift.
Riding
The park offers lift-served downhill trails and uphill trail access for riders who like to pedal. Durango has a long mountain bike history, and the park is a good add-on to the town’s trail riding. The resort also runs races, events and community jam sessions in summer, so there is often something happening on weekends.
Lessons and rentals
Mountain bike lessons run Thursday to Sunday when the park is open. Bikes can be rented on the mountain or at the resort’s downtown shop in Durango.
Tickets
You need a season pass or a day ticket to ride. Day tickets use dynamic pricing, so they cost more as the ride date gets closer. Buy early for the best price. Season passes are also sold for riders who plan to visit often.
Good to know
The bike park is closed Monday to Wednesday for trail maintenance. Check the summer operating calendar on purgatory.ski for opening dates. For general questions call the resort on 970-385-2100.
