MTB Coaching in Troodos – Gravity Academy Cyprus
Coaching, youth camps and guided enduro with a Cypriot gravity crew
About
For MTB coaching in Troodos and beyond, Gravity CY – home of Gravity Academy – is a Cypriot gravity mountain bike team that coaches riders of all ages, runs youth summer camps in the Troodos Mountains, guides enduro trips and organises downhill races and community rides across the island. If you want to build skills on real Cypriot trails, or join a local crew for a few days of shuttle-assisted enduro, this is a group worth contacting.
The team is led by founder Michalis Achas, who works as coach, guide and trail builder, with coach and athlete George Kouzis and a group of guides and trail builders. Their stated aim is to put Cyprus on the map as a mountain biking destination, and the team also helps maintain trails and runs events such as the Stavrovouni downhill race, the Troodos Bike Festival and women’s rides.
What they offer: MTB coaching in Troodos, camps and enduro trips
- Beginner coaching – getting to know the sport and your bike: body position, smooth gear changes and controlled braking.
- Coaching for hobby riders – bike handling, technical sections, gear advice and riding strategy to move up a level.
- Race coaching – for riders of any age who want to start competing.
- Youth summer camp in Troodos – the 2026 camp was for ages 8–16 at intermediate and advanced level, based at the Troodos Hotel, with shuttle-assisted trail rides, orienteering, a bike maintenance workshop and first aid sessions.
- Cyprus enduro packages – three guided ride days with shuttle support on request or e-bike tours, mechanical support and groups of 3–7 riders per guide; accommodation, airport transfers from Larnaca or Paphos, lunches and long-travel enduro bike hire (analogue or e-bike) can be added.
- Events and shuttle days – Troodos trail shuttle days, enduro weekends at Madari and downhill races.
The riding around Troodos
- Troodos and Mount Olympus – high pine forest, rocky descents and natural singletrack around the island’s highest peak.
- Madari ridge – a rugged ridge on the eastern side of the Troodos range, used for Gravity’s enduro weekends.
- Machairas forest – wooded hills to the east, venue for Gravity’s women’s rides.
- Stavrovouni – the hill near Larnaca that hosts the team’s well-known downhill race.
When to ride
Gravity CY says Cyprus is rideable all year, with the best enduro season from October to May. The summer camps take place in early July, when the cooler air of the Troodos Mountains is a welcome escape from the heat of the coast.
Getting to Troodos
Larnaca and Paphos airports both serve Cyprus, and Gravity’s enduro packages can include transfers from either. From Limassol, Troodos is about an hour’s drive up into the mountains; from Nicosia it is about 1 hour 15 minutes, and from Paphos Airport about 1 hour 30 minutes. Camp transfers have been offered from Nicosia, Limassol and Paphos.
Tips for your ride
- For the enduro trip, bring an enduro bike in good condition with durable 2.4–2.5″ tyres, pads and spares.
- Only half-face helmets come with rental bikes, so pack your own full-face if you prefer one.
- Personal travel and accident insurance is required on the enduro packages.
- Book MTB coaching in Troodos early for summer camps, as places are reserved with a deposit.
