Mountain Bike Tours in Troodos – Activate Cyprus
Guided MTB, e-MTB and enduro trips in Troodos and Tochni
About
Planning mountain bike tours in Troodos? Activate Cyprus is an island-based cycling company that runs guided mountain bike, e-MTB and enduro trips in the Troodos Mountains, alongside winter riding from its home village of Tochni between Larnaca and Limassol. It suits riders who want local route knowledge, logistics and accommodation handled in one place, whether that is a single holiday week or a fully bespoke trip.
The company’s headquarters and bike centre sit in Tochni, and it also operates a bike station at the Troodos Hotel in the mountains, plus riding areas around Limassol and Paphos. As a registered travel agent on the island, Activate Cyprus can package accommodation, airport transfers and bike storage together with the riding, and it also organises road, gravel and touring holidays and training camps.
What they offer: mountain bike tours in Troodos and beyond
- Enduro Experience – a six-day trip with five nights at a mountain-top hotel in Troodos, guided riding with shuttle uplifts, airport transfers, breakfast and dinner, and a photo and video album. It is pitched at riders with strong descending skills on rough ground, though the itinerary can be adjusted.
- Troodos E-Bike Days – a four-day e-MTB tour through the green heart of the island.
- Troodos Traverse and Troodos: The Green Heart of Cyprus – mountain-focused trips through forests, remote villages and past old Venetian bridges.
- Tochni: The Winter MTB Heaven – cooler-month riding from the Tochni base.
- Cyprus in a Nutshell and Bespoke MTB – island-wide or tailor-made itineraries built around your dates and level.
- Bike hire – full-suspension and hardtail mountain bikes, e-bikes, gravel, road and kids’ bikes.
The riding around Tochni and the Troodos Mountains
- Troodos and Mount Olympus – the island’s highest ground at 1,952 m, with dirt roads and singletrack of varying difficulty through pine forest.
- Machairas forest – wooded hills east of Troodos, reached by singletrack linking mountain villages.
- Paphos Forest and Akamas – wilder terrain to the west, running towards the Akamas peninsula.
- Tochni and Lefkara – gravel roads and trails through olive and orange groves in the lower hills between Larnaca and Limassol.
When to ride
According to Activate Cyprus, its Troodos programme runs from May to the end of November, with the enduro week best from April to December; rain-proof clothing is recommended for October and November. In winter the action moves down to Tochni, where milder conditions make the lower hills a good choice while the mountains are cold.
Getting to Tochni
Larnaca International Airport is the main gateway: Tochni lies just off the A1 motorway, about 30–35 minutes’ drive away, and Limassol is roughly half an hour west. Troodos is about an hour’s drive into the mountains from Limassol, or about 1 hour 45 minutes from Larnaca Airport. Paphos Airport is an alternative for the western side of the island. Airport transfers can be included in packages.
Tips for your ride
- Choose the tour honestly against your skills – the enduro trip expects confident riding on rough, rocky descents.
- Bike hire is not included in the enduro package, so book a rental in advance if you are not flying with your own bike.
- Carry plenty of water and sun protection; even in the mountains, Cypriot sun is strong for much of the year.
- Combine mountain bike tours in Troodos with a few winter or shoulder-season days in Tochni for a different side of the island.
