Mountain Bike Guide near Bled – Discover By Bike E-MTB Tours

Private e-MTB and mountain bike days around Bled and the Julian Alps

Slovenia, Europe

About

For a relaxed, personal day out with a mountain bike guide near Bled, Discover By Bike offers private e-bike and mountain bike tours led by local guide Blaž Kunej from his base in Lesce, a few minutes from Lake Bled. The tours are built around scenery, quiet back roads and forest tracks, with a picnic of local food along the way, so they suit riders who want to explore the Julian Alps at a comfortable pace rather than chase lines.

Discover By Bike is a one-person business (Blaž Kunej s.p.) supported by a small team. On his guide page, Blaž states that he is a licensed bike guide holding the TKV I licence issued by the Alpine Association of Slovenia, and that he is trained in first aid. He has guided day and multi-day road, e-bike and mountain bike tours in Slovenia, Austria, Italy and Switzerland, and has raced amateur MTB marathons. That mix of guiding and racing experience means he can read a group quickly and adjust the pace, route and stops so that everyone, from first-time e-bikers to fitter riders, enjoys the day.

The riding around Bled and Lesce

  • Jelovica plateau – Radovljica’s tourism board lists an enduro route of about 30 km and 1,100 m of climbing on the forested plateau.
  • Karavanke – the mountains on the Austrian border, with a similar enduro route of about 30 km and 900 m of climbing.
  • Kranjska Gora cycling trails – the resort’s official network in the upper Sava Valley, easy to combine with a Vršič Pass day.

When to ride

The website does not give a fixed season for its mountain bike tours, but the Bled area is generally best from late spring to mid-autumn, when the high plateaus are free of snow. Summer days are long and warm, while September and October bring clear views and quieter roads. Get in touch for dates outside the main season.

Getting to Lesce

Lesce lies just off the A2 motorway between Ljubljana and the Karawanks tunnel to Austria, beside Bled. Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport is about 25 minutes away by car, and Ljubljana city centre about 45 minutes. Lesce-Bled railway station is in the village itself, with regular trains from Ljubljana.

Tips for your ride

  • Tours are private, so mention any fitness or experience level up front and the route will be tailored to you.
  • Hotel pick-up is included on day tours, so share your accommodation details when you book.
  • Bring sunglasses and a light layer for the descents from Pokljuka or the Karavanke.
  • If you want more singletrack than scenery, ask whether a route on Jelovica or in the Karavanke can be included.
