RideHub – MTB Lessons in Squamish, BC
Skills clinics, courses and private coaching in the Sea to Sky
About
Looking for mtb lessons in Squamish? RideHub is a qualified local team that knows the trails around Squamish inside out.
For structured, progressive MTB lessons in Squamish, RideHub is one of the most complete set-ups in the Sea to Sky corridor. Based on Tantalus Road just off the highway, it combines a coaching school, guiding service, rental and demo centre, workshop and café under one roof – handy when you want to learn, ride and refuel in the same place.
RideHub has been running since 2018 and its coaching team lists recognised mountain bike instructor qualifications on its own website. Coaches hold PMBIA Level 1 and Level 2 certifications (including Level 2 Air for jumping), one coach is also certified through the BICP, and team members carry Wilderness First Aid. RideHub also hosts PMBIA instructor certification courses in Squamish, which says a lot about its focus on coaching quality.
What they offer
- Intro to MTB – a gentle first session for brand-new riders.
- Skills clinics – focused sessions on cornering, drops, slabs, jumps, rock rolls and climbing.
- Multi-day courses – Foundations, Progression and Advanced programmes to build skills step by step.
- Women’s shuttle clinics – in Squamish and Pemberton, plus a Masters Club for older riders.
- Private coaching – 4- or 6-hour sessions for you and up to three friends in Squamish, Whistler or Pemberton.
- Kids camps and guided rides – youth ride-adventure camps, guided trail rides, shuttle laps and alpine trips.
RideHub suits a wide range of riders: complete beginners wanting a safe start, intermediate riders stuck on a particular skill, women looking for supportive group clinics, older riders in the Masters Club and kids who want a summer of adventure on two wheels. Private sessions are capped at four riders per coach, which keeps feedback personal. Because coaching, rentals and servicing all happen on one site, it is also a practical choice if you are visiting without your own bike – you can be set up, coached and fed without leaving the building.
The riding around Squamish
- Diamond Head and Alice Lake – rooty, rocky singletrack north of town, including some of the best-known descents in the corridor.
- Garibaldi Highlands – steep, technical riding close to town with classic Squamish granite and loam.
- Valleycliffe and the Smoke Bluffs – the south end of town, famous for granite slabs, tight tech and short, punchy climbs.
When to ride
Private instruction is offered all season, and the lower Squamish trails are rideable for most of the year. Clinics, courses and kids camps are concentrated in the main riding season from spring to autumn, while alpine trips depend on summer snowmelt. Check the course and clinic calendar on the RideHub website for current dates.
Getting to Squamish
Squamish sits on the Sea-to-Sky Highway (Highway 99) between Vancouver and Whistler. The nearest major airport is Vancouver International (YVR); from there the drive takes about 1 hour 15 minutes, and it is about an hour from downtown Vancouver. Regular coach shuttles also run along the corridor if you would rather not hire a car, although having your own vehicle makes reaching trailheads much easier.
Tips for your ride
- Pick a clinic that matches one specific skill you want to improve – focused sessions bring faster progress.
- If you do not have a suitable bike, book a rental or demo with your lesson so it is ready on the day.
- Arrive early and grab a coffee at the café – sessions start on time.
- Wear full-finger gloves and knee pads; Squamish rock is not forgiving.
