Järvsö Bike Park – Järvsö Bergscykelpark, Sweden
Sweden's best bike park 2023–2025: green to double black, lift-served
About
Looking for the best Järvsö bike park experience? Järvsö Bergscykelpark, in the heart of Hälsingland in central Sweden, has been voted Sweden’s best bike park three years running (2023, 2024 and 2025) by the readers of Happyride.se – and it is easy to see why.
The park opened its gates in June 2010, after founder Lars Ek Lööv came back from a trip to Whistler in 2007 with one idea: build a real lift-served bike park in Sweden. The first trails were built together with Gravity Logic, the trail builders behind Whistler, and the park has kept growing ever since. In 2025 it celebrated 15 years.
Trails for every level
The trail network runs from easy green lines for first-timers all the way up to double-black runs. You’ll find steep, technical downhill tracks, flowing trails and jump lines – including Barbro, a blue machine-built jump track that suits most riders. Many trails are named after Lill-Babs, the famous singer from Järvsö, and her songs.
The lift carries four bikes at a time and gets you to the top in about three to four minutes, so you spend your day riding rather than queuing.
Rental, coaching and shop
- Bike rental: full-suspension downhill bikes with helmet, upper-body and knee protection, jersey and gloves included – plus cross-country and kids’ bikes.
- Coaching: intro courses with an instructor, private lessons for small groups and mountain bike clinics with professional coaches.
- Shop and workshop: clothing, parts and protection, and simple service jobs on your own bike.
- Stay on site: the park has its own hotel, opened in 2019.
Not ready for the big lines yet? Two Velosolution pump tracks sit in the middle of Järvsö village, and there are dirt jumps right behind the rental.
Season and prices
The 2026 season runs from the premiere weekend in mid-May to 1 November. The lift is open every day from 22 May to 30 August, then Friday to Sunday in September and October, plus the autumn holidays. A one-day adult lift pass costs 415 SEK (2026), with multi-day and season passes available.
Getting to Järvsö
Järvsö is in Ljusdal municipality, Gävleborg county. By car, follow the E4 north to Tönnebro, then road 83 to Järvsö. The park is at Vallmovägen 20, just outside the village.
Tips for your first day at Järvsö bike park
- Start on the greens. Even if you ride a lot at home, take a lap or two on the easy trails to get used to the speed, the berms and the feel of a lift-served park.
- Wear proper protection. A full-face helmet, knee pads and gloves are the minimum for downhill riding – rental bikes come with protection included.
- Book a lesson early in the trip. An hour with an instructor on day one usually makes the rest of your stay safer and much more fun.
- Check the opening days. Outside the main summer weeks the lift only runs on certain days, so plan around the official opening hours.
- Bring layers. Central Sweden can be warm in July but cool and wet in spring and autumn – a light rain jacket earns its place in your bag.
Why ride Järvsö?
Few places in Scandinavia combine this much lift-served riding with a relaxed village setting. Järvsö works just as well for a family weekend on the green trails as for a week of laps on the steep lines, and with a hotel, rental, coaching and a shop on site, you can turn up with nothing more than your riding kit.
Ride Järvsö with a coach or guide
Whether it’s your first day on a downhill bike or you want to clear the double blacks, a session with a coach is the quickest way to ride with more confidence.
