About
Looking for a bike hotel in Moab? The Gonzo Inn is set up for mountain bikers, with secure bike storage, a bike wash and a workshop with tools.
The Gonzo Inn is a locally owned boutique hotel tucked just off Main Street in downtown Moab, Utah. Locally owned since 1998, it offers rooms and suites, food and drink on site and plenty of local know-how for planning your desert adventures.
Mountain bikers are well catered for: there’s secure, locked storage for bikes, a bike wash station to blast off the red dust and a dedicated repair area with tools, so you can sort out a tubeless burp or a sticky dropper before the next ride.
Moab is one of the world’s great riding towns, with famous slickrock, desert singletrack and big La Sal mountain descents all within a short drive. From the Gonzo you’re close to the Moab Brands trails, the Slickrock area and the shuttle-served rides of the Mag 7 and Porcupine Rim, and local certified guides can show you the best lines and lesser-known routes.

- Slickrock Trail – the world-famous painted route over sandstone, about 4 miles east of town; rideable from your door, intermediate and up, with a small entrance fee.
- Moab Brands (Bar M) – around 31 miles of mostly singletrack loops just north of town off Highway 191; the Lazy EZ loops suit beginners and the Killer B trails test experts.
- Navajo Rocks – intermediate loops about 17 miles north-west, with steady climbs, rolling descents and technical slickrock.
- HyMasa and Captain Ahab – a technical climb and a rocky, cliff-edge descent about 6 miles south-west; a difficult local favourite.
- The Whole Enchilada – a 34-mile, mostly downhill epic from alpine aspens to desert slickrock; book a commercial shuttle, as the drop-off is about an hour from town.
Choosing a bike hotel in Moab keeps you in the middle of town, so shuttles, bike shops and post-ride food are all close by.
Getting to Moab
Canyonlands Regional Airport is about 18 miles north of town, roughly 25–30 minutes’ drive, with limited flights and hire cars, so book early. Grand Junction in Colorado has more airlines and is about one hour 45 minutes to two hours away. Salt Lake City, the biggest hub, is around four to five hours by road. Pre-booked shuttle transfers run from Grand Junction and scheduled coaches from Salt Lake City. A car is useful for reaching the outlying trailheads.
When to ride
Spring (March to May) and autumn (September to early November) are the prime seasons, with mild days and dry trails. Summer brings serious heat and occasional heavy thunderstorms, so ride early in the day. High trails such as the top of the Whole Enchilada can see snow from late September or October and may be closed by November, while the lower desert trails often stay rideable in winter.
