About

Looking for a bike hotel in Finale Ligure? Hotel Medusa is set up for mountain bikers, with secure bike storage, a bike wash, a workshop with tools, e-bike charging, bike rental, guided rides or shuttles and laundry for riding kit.

Hotel Medusa is a family-run three-star hotel in Finale Marina, tucked into a lane just back from the seafront and less than 100 metres from the main square. Most rooms look out over the sea, and it stays open all year round, which suits Finale’s mild winter riding season.

The hotel describes itself as a bike hotel and backs that up with a dedicated bike room that includes a workshop corner and a bike washer. There are charging points for e-MTBs, full-suspension and e-MTB rental on site, and a self-service laundry for muddy kit. The team can also arrange guided days and shuttle uplifts to the top of Melogno.

Finale Ligure is one of Europe’s great enduro destinations, with hundreds of kilometres of flowing, rocky singletrack running from the plateaux down to the Mediterranean. Medusa makes a relaxed base where non-riders have the beach on the doorstep, and certified local guides can help you make sense of the huge trail network.

Best rides from Finale Ligure

  • NATO Base (Base Nato) – the most famous shuttle drop, high above the coast, with flowing trails such as Base Trail and Ingegnere heading back down towards Feglino and Finale. Intermediate; take an uplift van or climb via Calice Ligure.
  • Melogno and Rollercoaster – the highest regular shuttle point, from which long, fast trails like Rollercoaster and Fast and Furious run down towards Calice and Finalborgo. Medium to advanced, great on an enduro bike.
  • Le Manie – a plateau at around 400 m between Finale and Noli, rideable almost all year, with the panoramic route down to Noli and the steep Men’s DH for confident riders. Easy to reach under your own steam from the seafront.
  • Feglino and Supergroppo – a quieter zone inland, where the flowing Supergroppo singletrack ends in Finalborgo. Good for intermediates and a short shuttle away.

Getting to Finale Ligure

Genoa is the nearest airport, about an hour’s drive along the A10 coastal motorway. Nice has many more flights from the UK and is roughly an hour and 45 minutes away by car. From Nice you can also take the train, changing at Ventimiglia, though it takes around four hours.

Finale Ligure Marina station sits on the coastal railway and is handy for the seafront. Once here you will not need a car: around 25 uplift companies run shuttle vans to the top of the main trail zones.

When to ride

The coastal hills can be ridden almost all year, but March to June and September to November are the best months. Spring is mild and quiet, apart from busy Easter weekends, and autumn is often warm and dry well into October. July and August are usually too hot, and many shuttle services slow down. Staying at a bike hotel in Finale Ligure lets you pick your days and dodge the occasional winter storm. Weather can change quickly above 1,000 m.
