E-bike Transylvania – Guided e-MTB Tours in Mercheașa and the Saxon Villages

E-bike Transylvania is a small, family-run e-bike guiding business in Mercheașa, a quiet village in Brașov County, in the heart of rural Transylvania, Romania. It was founded by Silviu Neculai-Pelei, a Brașov-born MTB guide who moved to the village to be closer to nature, and who also looks after the local Gorun Trail and the ancient Carpathian oak near the village.

Guided private e-bike tours explore the hills, forests and old Saxon villages around Mercheașa – including Viscri, Jimbor and Dopca – on routes designed for all levels, from beginners to experienced riders. Along the way you’ll hear the local history, stories and legends of the area and enjoy good local food.

Family tours are also available, with a child trailer for two children or a handlebar child seat, as well as e-bike team-building events with accommodation in Mercheașa.

What to expect on an E-bike Transylvania tour

Tours start in Mercheașa, a traditional village in the hills between Brașov and Sighișoara. Rides follow quiet farm tracks, forest roads and singletrack through oak and beech woods, open meadows and gentle valleys, linking the fortified Saxon churches and colourful houses of villages such as Viscri, Jimbor and Dopca. The electric assistance means you can cover more ground and enjoy the climbs, so the day is about the landscape, the villages and the people rather than suffering on the hills.

This is slow, authentic travel: you ride past shepherds and horse carts, stop for local food and hear the history and legends of the region from a guide who lives there. It is a great way to discover the rural Transylvania that most visitors to Brașov and Bran never see.
