Thunder Mountain Bike Park

Gravity Logic-built bike park with 30 trails in the Berkshires

Bike park United States, North America

About

Thunder Mountain Bike Park is the lift-served bike park of Berkshire East Mountain Resort in Charlemont, Massachusetts, in the Berkshire Mountains. Built by trail builders Gravity Logic, the Thunder Mountain bike park mixes smooth flow and jump lines with rocky, rooty technical tracks over around 920 ft of riding vertical.

What to expect at Thunder Mountain Bike Park

  • Around 30 trails, from easy green runs to double-black lines, designed for rider progression
  • Flow trails such as Cat and Mouse, plus the Sugar Line – a long, gentle green run of about 3.5 miles
  • Steep, technical double blacks with rocks and roots, like Cliff Clavin
  • Jump lines up to pro level, including Fort Hill and Hawleywood
  • The High Speed Summit Quad, with the Mountain Top Triple on busy days
  • A large rental fleet and a fully equipped bike shop at the base

Good to know

The park sits in the hills of western Massachusetts, a short drive from Greenfield and within reach of Boston, New York and Albany for a weekend trip. New riders can build up on the greens and blues, while the black and double-black trails and big jump lines give experienced riders plenty to work on. A full-face helmet and pads are a good idea on the harder trails.

Season and tickets

Thunder Mountain opens in the months outside the ski season, usually from late spring to autumn. Check the official Berkshire East website for opening days, lift tickets, rentals and lessons.
