Bike Park Val di Sole sits at Daolasa, in Commezzadura, in the Val di Sole valley in western Trentino. It is best known for the Black Snake, a steep and rooty World Cup downhill track that has hosted many international races and UCI World Championships.

An 8-seat gondola runs from the Daolasa base to Val Mastellina and takes you and your bike up about 550 m. It serves four gravity lines. Black Snake is for experts only, while Golden Eagle, Wild Grizzly and White Wolf ride more gently and mix berms, jumps, north shore features and rock gardens.

Lower down, the valley floor has a free Four Cross track, and natural enduro trails drop from the top station all the way back to the valley.

The park suits confident downhill and enduro riders. A bike train along the valley stops right at the Daolasa base, so it is easy to reach without a car.

La Thuile is a small Aosta Valley village near the Little St Bernard Pass, and its bike park is known for long, natural trails. Two chairlifts, the Bosco Express and the Chalet Express, carry riders and bikes up the mountain. From the highest points around 2,600 m you can ride more than 1,200 m of descent back to the village.

The trails change as you drop. Up high they cross open pastures with gentler gradients. Lower down they get steeper and run through forest, with roots, rocks and off-camber turns. Most graded runs are red or black, so the park suits confident enduro and downhill riders.

Near the Bosco Express there is a training area with a dual slalom, a pump track and a balance-bike course for small children. A local MTB school runs lessons and guided rides, and e-bikes can be rented in the village. The lift ticket can also include La Rosière, across the border in France.

Mottolino Bikepark sits on the slopes above Livigno, a high-altitude resort in Lombardy’s Alta Valtellina near the Swiss border. A gondola from the base on Via Bondi takes riders up the mountain, and the bike-ready Yepi chairlift adds more uplift. The park runs from mid-June to late September.

There are about 14 trails graded blue, red and black, from a long, flowing signature line and beginner-friendly runs to old-school downhill tracks and natural singletrack. The Livigno daily bikepass also covers lifts in the Carosello 3000 and Sitas areas, which opens up plenty of enduro and all-mountain riding across the valley.

The base station has a rental centre with downhill, enduro and e-bikes plus protective gear, and bike schools are based there too. There is also a kids’ fun area. Free parking, duty-free shops, lakes and bike-friendly hotels make Livigno an easy choice for a riding holiday.

“When you go on a cycling holiday, everything looks so different. In a car you are always in a compartment and because you’re used to it you don’t realise that through that car window everything you see is just more TV. You are a passive observer and everything you see is moving by you boringly in a frame. On a bicycle that frame is gone. You completely in contact with it all. You’re in the scene, not just watching it anymore, and the sense of presence is overwhelming.” This phrase that I stole from Robert Pirsig has been my creed for over thirty years.

After having experienced all types of cycling from granfondo to international mountain bike races and having driven nearly 200 tours for the Ciclismo Classico company, I have decided that there is no nicer place than home territory to continue and to grow that passion for discovery by bike so I am here, more than ready to be your guide or to create for you your next discovery by bike.

Chi Siamo

Simona Flacco

Amo pedalare a perdifiato! Partire a volte senza una meta precisa e perdermi dietro casa.
Adoro quella sensazione dì libertà e spensieratezza, la fatica, le lunghe chiacchierate con me stessa, lo stupore che ti coglie all’improvviso, la sfida con me stessa per andare sempre un filo oltre! A ritmo mio!
